Mancelyano 1.0

The MANCELYANO Cleaning Campaign was a youth-led environmental initiative organized by the MANZELYANO BOSCO YOUTH Club after a capacity-building workshop conducted in partnership with AVSI. Following this training, Mohamed Wassim Guebsi and Maryem Dridi were selected to lead and coordinate the action. The event took place at Cilye Beach and aimed to raise environmental awareness while taking concrete action to protect the coastline. Under the supervision of ecology trainer Ms. Wifek Hannaoui and with logistical support from the local municipality, participants worked together to clean the beach and sort waste. After the cleanup, animation and fun activities were organized to encourage teamwork and strengthen community spirit. In recognition of the collective efforts, the municipality officially honored 10 action leaders and organizers for their commitment and contribution to the campaign. The initiative successfully combined environmental action, education, and social engagement, leaving a positive and lasting impact on both participants and the community. Results and Impact: During the campaign, a total of 14 bins of waste were collected (500 KG !) . The waste was categorized into three main types: urban waste (7 bins), plastic waste (4 bins), and hazardous waste (3 bins). In addition, participants collected two 1.5-liter bottles filled with cigarette butts, highlighting the serious impact of smoking-related pollution on the beach. Beyond the environmental results, the campaign gained massive visibility on social media, going viral across platforms and reaching nearly 1 million views. This wide exposure inspired many young people across Tunisia to organize similar environmental campaigns in their own cities, spreading the spirit of civic engagement and environmental responsibility nationwide.
